Welcome

I am a seventh-grade English teacher. I have been teaching 7th grade for 18 years and look forward to many more years at Penns Valley. I also teach a Tier 2 reading support class which is an MTSS (Multi-tiered System of Support) program that works with students to improve their reading abilities.

I am the parent of two Penns Valley children. My daughter, Brandilyn, is a graduate of Penn State University and currently teaches at James Buchanan Middle School, and my son, Trevor, is a graduate of South Hills Business School, currently employed at Penn State as a computer programmer. My husband, Brett, is a Penns Valley alum and works for Glenn O. Hawbaker.

The middle level does an excellent job of communicating daily homework assignments. This is done through the use of a Google document (the link can be found using the "Links" tab). This document is updated daily and even students that don't have the internet at home can print this out during Ram time, take a screenshot of assignments, or write down daily assignments. 

 

There are many different ways that we communicate information to parents. First, the PV website has a school calendar that can access school events including sporting events. The school district also sends letters and phone alerts home for special events/concerns. The Skyward grading portal can be accessed by both students and parents for up-to-date grades. There is also the Schoology Learning Platform that all English 7 classes will be using. More information can be found using the Links tab on the left.  Any questions about any of the programs can be addressed through the teacher or office staff.

For English class, students will be using the learning platform called Schoology. Most teachers throughout the school building use this platform in some shape or form.
