Classroom Rules

 

 

Be prepared to learn and bring all necessary materials (pencil, folder/binder, calculator, and computer) to class.

 

 

Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking.

 

 

Use good manners and appropriate language.

 

 

Respect all students and staff.

 

 

“Other Things” To Remember

 

 

Arrive to class on time. Please make sure that you are in your seat before the bell rings.

 

 

Food and drinks are not permitted in class. Water bottles are the only exception to this rule.

 

 

Students need to remain seated from the beginning of class until the bell rings at the end of the period.

 

 

Students will not be permitted to return to their lockers once the bell rings unless it’s an emergency.

 

 

Computer bags are permitted in class. Please do not bring any other type of bag with you.

 

 

Students may not wear hats at any point during the school day.

 

 

Students must keep their cell phones in their lockers at all times.

Any or all of the consequences listed below may occur depending on the situation:

           

 

Conference with the teacher
 
Lunch detention
 
Phone call or email to parent/guardian
 
Referral to the office

 

 

Grading

 

 

Your grade for this course will consist of a variety of assessments that will include homework, classroom activities, quizzes, and tests.  Please make sure that all work is turned in on time.  Submitting late work will significantly impact your grade. 

 

 

For this class, tests will be weighted as 35% of your marking period grade, quizzes will be weighted as 50% of your marking period grade, and homework will be weighted as 15% of your marking period grade.

 

 

Standard Penns Valley Grading Scale

 

 

A - 90 – 100%         B - 80 – 89%          C - 70 – 79%          D - 60 – 69%         E - 059%

 

 

Homework

 

 

Homework this year will include weekly “Get More Math” points.  Students will be required to obtain 20-30 “Get More Math” points per week.  Students may begin to accumulate these points on Monday and will have until the end of Friday evening to obtain these points.  Students will be given some time to work on these problems during class, but students will need to complete work at home or during RAM time as well.  

 

 

Absences

 

 

Students who are absent from school are responsible for talking with the teacher when he/she returns to find out what was missed (tests, quizzes, classroom activities, etc.) and the deadline for completing those assignments.    

 

 

Note    :          

 

Students have equal to the number of days absent to complete make-up work (tests/quizzes/classroom activities), up to a maximum of five days, without late penalty.
