Pe procedures

I WILL BE USING SCHOOLOGY AS THE LMS FOR THIS COURSE. 
 
 
LOCKER ROOM
Report to assigned locker room
Appropriate behavior is expected
All students remain in the locker room until dismissal bell rings.
 
REMINDER- NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE LOCKER ROOM.
                     NO PHONES OR COMPUTERS IN THE LOCKER ROOM.

PE CLOTHING
T-shirt/ sweatshirt
Shorts/sweatpants/wind pants
Sneakers/socks-sneakers must be tied
Dress according to the weather.
 

*** PE clothing is clothing other than what was worn to school that day.

When a student is changing for PE class, if he/she is  going to remove any undergarments, he/she must do so in a private changing area. When showering, a student must put on undergarments before exiting the shower/changing  area.

JEWERLY
All jewelry is to be removed for PE-this is for the safety of all students. Medical alert
Badges /bracelets are acceptable.

ROLL
Students have 8 minutes from the time the bell rings to be in line for roll.
If not in line within 8 minutes-the student will be marked tardy.

EXCUSES
If unable to participate- students are required to provide a note from:
a doctor
the school nurse
Legal excuses- an alternative activity
academic assignment
Students are responsible for missed classes due to injury or illness. Check to see if any handouts or materials were given while they were out.

ATHLETES
Athletes will not be excused from activity on the day of a game, meet, or event.
You will be expected to participate in PE class.
GRADING

Preparation-Dressing for class-

Preparation- Dress- Students are expected to wear proper pe clothing daily. (Athletic shorts, shirt, sweatpants...ets) as well as sneakers in order to participate to the best of their ability daily. Students who do not wear proper PE attire (example jeans) but can still participate with sneakers on will be deducted the minimum of two participation points. Students who do not dress appropriately for PE (no PE clothing and no sneakers) will not be able to participate and will receive a 0 on participation for the class period that day.

2. Written Tests/- 
A written test will be given at the end of each unit.
Rules, skills, strategies, positions will be included.
A study guide will be provided
 
  1. If online, students will maintain attendance during class in the online platform throughout the duration of the lesson
  2. Virtual Presence (PV RAMS ONLINE PARTICIPANTS)
    1. Students will have cameras on during Zoom meetings
    2. Your first and last name should be used for your screen
    3. In emergency circumstances, if you need to mute the video, you must have your school picture as your profile OR you can use a blank background with your full legal name.
    4. Find a quiet location and prepared learning space
    5. Check your lighting so you are visible.
    6. BATHROOM BREAKS:
      1. Please mute your video
      2. Post in the private chat when you leave and return from your bathroom break
    7. Be an ACTIVE participant in all breakout rooms when doing group chats or activities.
      1. Mr. Ripka will monitor time and participation
  3. Virtual Participation (PV RAMS ONLINE PARTICIPANTS)
    1. Use reaction buttons to actively participate in class discussions and to encourage peers
    2. Use the hand-raising button to contribute to class discussions
    3. Turn off all computer notifications so you are not distracted
    4. Turn off your cell phone so you are not distracted
      1. I may permit cell phones when needed
  4. Check email and platform communications daily for announcements
  5. Check Skyward daily to keep track of all grades and assignments
  6. It is your responsibility to check in with teachers if you need additional help

NOT DRESSING/INJURY ASSIGNMENTS FOR PE CLASSES

Students who do not participate in PE classes for an extended injury noted by a doctor, will be required to do an assignment to earn your grade in PE. This work can come in a variety of forms. Google Classroom will be utilized for this work.


Cumulative Fitness Project/Final Exam – (Grades 11/12) - Students will be required to participate in fitness testing and create a personal fitness plan. This plan is worth 20% of the final overall course grade. (Grades 9/10) – Students will be required to complete a final project worth 20% of their overall grade.

Physical Education Participation Rubric (10 points/day)

10-9  Demonstrates maximum effort with high intensity the entire class.

8-7  Demonstrates strong effort the entire class

6-5  Demonstrates some effort for most of the class.

4-3  Demonstrates very little effort.

2-1  Demonstrates a total lack of effort.

0-    Does not dress for class. Refuses to participate.

*Failure to dress 5 times during a marking period results in an “E” for the course.
